Florida seller-of-travel registration is a vacation check
Most businesses with a Florida location or offering travel for sale in Florida must register with FDACS every year unless exempt.
Florida makes most sellers of travel renew a state record each year. That gives a buyer a public check before money changes hands.
The rule reaches beyond a normal travel agency. It can cover tours, travel packages, vacation certificates, and travel clubs. Some businesses are exempt, but they must get an exemption letter from FDACS.
An ad from a covered seller must show the words “Fla. Seller of Travel Reg. No.” The contract also needs the state notice. A registered seller must display its paper at the main office and each branch. These signs show that a state record exists, but they do not promise a good trip or a quick refund.
Before paying, search the business name and number in FDACS Business Search. Then read the refund terms, dates, included costs, and the name of the company that will book the trip. Keep the offer, contract, receipt, and messages together. That file is far more useful than a vacation ad if plans change.
