Palma Sola Scenic Highway makes the island drive part of the day
Palma Sola Scenic Highway follows six miles of SR 64 from 75th Street West in Bradenton to East Bay Drive in Holmes Beach.
Palma Sola Scenic Highway is the kind of road where the beach day starts before the beach.
The six-mile state byway follows Manatee Avenue West across Palma Sola Bay. It begins at 75th Street West in Bradenton and ends at East Bay Drive in Holmes Beach. A separate scenic road continues south through Bradenton Beach. That city is not the end of the Palma Sola route.
Along the way are water access, picnic spots, bay views, bikes, walkers, and beach traffic. A visitor may see a road to the sand. A local may be driving to work, school, dinner, or the store. Both trips share the same bridge and island streets.
Check parking, traffic, weather, and island notices before you set out. On a calm morning, the road can feel open and easy. On a holiday or bridge-delay day, making the drive part of the outing gives the plan more room.
