SWFWMD watering days start with the address
Across the Southwest Florida Water Management District, the address sets the usual watering day while the current district order and any stricter local rule set the limits.
In much of west-central Florida, the house number is the first clue to a lawn-watering day. It is not the whole answer.
As of July 29, 2026, a strict water-shortage order remains in force through October 1, 2026. The Southwest Florida Water Management District calls it Modified Phase III “Extreme.” In general, it allows lawn and yard watering once a week during shorter hours. The rule also reaches homes with private wells. A city or county can set tighter hours, and the tighter rule controls.
The order does not cover every address in every district county. It covers all of Citrus, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, and Sumter counties. It also covers parts of Charlotte, Highlands, and Lake counties. Dunnellon, The Villages in Marion County, and part of Gasparilla Island are included as well. Use the district map and notice to confirm the boundary.
The water source can add another layer. Reclaimed water, a public utility, a private well, new sod, and an irrigation repair may not all follow the same details. An HOA calendar cannot cancel a public limit.
Start with the city or county rule for the exact address. Then compare it with the current district order and the water utility’s directions. That check works better than copying a neighbor’s day, because the next street may sit under another schedule or boundary.
