Look up a Florida educator certificate by name
Florida has a public certificate search for families and employers, while applicants use a separate secure account for their own application and record status.
To check a teacher, open the Florida Department of Education’s Teaching page and choose Educator Certification Lookup. Search with the exact name, or use the Florida DOE number when you have it. If the name is common, compare the record with the school before deciding it is the right person.
The public search shows current certificate status. It is not the private account used by a teacher or applicant. That person uses the secure online service to apply, pay a fee, or check the state file. A teacher who works for a public school district may also need help from the district certification office.
A certificate is not the same as a school job, background check, or discipline file. A public-school applicant should start the fingerprint and background-check path with the district employer. When discipline is the concern, use the FDOE professional-practices path.
Save the result or application update with the school file. It is useful only when it is matched to the right person and the right question.
