Florida Treasure Hunt lets people, businesses, and estates search and claim unclaimed property directly without paying the state a fee.
Florida Treasure Hunt is the state site for finding and claiming unclaimed property. The state does not charge a fee for a claim.
Old bank accounts, checks, deposits, insurance payments, refunds, and other funds can reach the state when the owner cannot be found. A current or former resident may have a claim. So may a business or estate.
Search each old legal name and business name that may appear on an account. Keep your ID and proof of past addresses nearby. A claim may need records that link the owner to the money.
You do not need a paid finder. If one calls, check the property on the state site before signing. Florida requires a state form for a paid finder. Total fees and costs cannot exceed 30%, and payment may come only after the claim is approved.
Type the state address yourself instead of using a link from a text or email. Even when the search finds nothing, that step is safer than sending personal papers to a stranger.
